Fall 2016 Elections Candidates

Statement from Rian Troth

I was first elected to the Board in 2011, when the league was in its infancy and have spent countless hours helping to develop what the league is today. I have served under multiple past commissioners during times of growth, change and league struggles.  Thru it all, the one thing I have always desired and tried to accomplish is making our league strong, financially stable, welcoming, fair and creating a high quality league that can compete with other leagues Nationwide.  Some of my decisions on the Board have been difficult, not always the most popular, but have always been in alignment for what I felt was right for the league and I stand by them, never wavering in my commitment to this league our Board.

I have served in almost every capacity on the Board and membership including, being a player, coach, manager, attending dozens of tournaments Nationwide, NAGAAA representative at meetings and events, one of the co-founders and planners of our Gold Rush and Camellia Classic Softball Tournament, countless fundraisers and sponsorships, and even assist personally in our children’s many sports teams they participate in.

I strongly believe in our league and especially its core mission, which is to provide a safe environment for our membership to gather, compete and build friendships. I have zero tolerance for any type of behavior against our core and will make sure all members feel welcome in whatever Division they are a part of.  I also believe the league board should be a representative body of the general membership and should always be focused on serving the needs of the members we serve. I pledge to keep us in line with our core values and mission as we grow and develop. I also pledge to make sure the members are always informed and have the opportunity to be heard on issues. I will do everything I can to ensure this league remains a safe and fun place for all of our athletes, our lines of communication are open and everyone feels welcome in anything this league does.  I ask for your support, optimism going forward, and your vote for League Commissioner.

Statement from Jude Alexander

My name is Jude Alexander and I would like to provide a letter of intent to run for D-Division representative for the 2016-2017 season. The primary reason for me wanting to run for this position is having the ability of providing outreach and community support while increasing additional patrons and players to the SVGLS. I would like for you to vote for me as I am tenacious, thorough, diligent, reliable and looking to maximize participation and growth through the community and league. Thank you for your consideration.

Statement from Christina Missildine

I am submitting my letter of intent to run for Women’s Representative.  Softball has been a part of my life for thirty years and my experiences playing the game have made me the person I am today.  I believe playing softball and specifically this league can create positive experiences for its members to better our lives.  I want to be a part of the board to make sure this league continues to be successful.

If I was elected to the board, I would bring my extensive knowledge of the game and those who play the game.  I began playing slow-pitch fifteen years ago, time that included a North Dakota Women’s D State Championship.  I have been a member of this league for three seasons and have enjoyed serving as an assistant manager for the Badlands Sharks.  I have coached at the college level for eight years, during which I learned the administrative side of the game.  This included scheduling, budgets, and planning.  As a coach, I also learned how to handle people and their different personalities and concerns.

I love this game and am very grateful that I am able to be involved in this league.  Playing in the SVGLS has brought me a lot of joy, both with the relationships I have made and continuing to play the sport I love.  I believe in this league and what it represents and I am excited for the opportunity to work hard to keep it going.

I appreciate your time and consideration.

Christina Missildine

Statement from Eric Nelson

I Eric J. Nelson would like to declare my intent to run for the office of Membership Coordinator. I have spent the last year as the D Division Rep and would like to continue to work toward making this league the best that it can be. We have made progress in over the last year with our league as is and I would like to reach out and grow our membership. At some point I would love to have the league grow to have a C Division the size or larger of our current D Division and begin growing a B Division.

Statement from Chris Beale

I haven’t seen the “job description” yet…but I have spoken to Rian about running for a board member at-large position and having my focus be improving our social media presence across the board as well as event planning, handling FB events, adding/managing a public FB page, and helping with general decision making.
I don’t have a ton of time to throw at it, but social media and occasional events is something I can manage. Consider this my official interest. Let me know what else you need from me.
